Flowcrete Polska has been involved in the design of the prestigious Q22 office building in Warsaw, providing the material and know-how to apply 18,000m2 of high performance deck membranes.
Renowned architect firm, Kuryłowicz & Associates, has designed the building, which is located in the city centre. Bright, elegant and modern, the new structure resembles a quartz crystal giving rise to the name Q22; Q meaning quartz and 22, the building’s address at 22 John Paul II Street.
Q22 offers over 52 000 m2 of state-of-the-art office space over 42 floors. Its new tenants include some of the biggest companies on the Polish market including Allegro, Deloitte and the building developer, Echo Investment.
The building also includes a 5-storey basement car park facility with 384 bays to provide a convenient parking space for building occupants and visitors.
The underground car park facility has been designed with great attention to detail with the goal of making the space as convenient as possible for users as well as to regulate traffic movement in the most effective way.
“Automatic access controls enable quick identification of authorized vehicles and the communication roads inside have been ergonomically designed,” suggested Marek Szymonek, Project Manager at Echo Investment.
The basement deck has been protected using Flowcrete Polska’s quartz-filled polyurethane membrane, Deckshield. This range of protective deck membranes has been developed to sustain typical loads in a wide range of parking environments including basement, intermediate and exposed top-level decks. Deckshield offers excellent wear resistance and has a high resistance to fuel, battery acids, maintenance fluids and chlorides.
The material’s excellent chemical resistance profile is of particular importance in parts of the world where cold, snowy winters are commonplace and de-icing salts are used heavily. These products often contain sodium chloride, potassium chloride and calcium chloride – all of which can have a corrosive impact on unprotected concrete slabs.
At Q22, Deckshield was installed in a blend of colours including Mid Grey to designate parking bays and Dark Grey for complementary surface signage.
“Both aesthetically attractive and slip-resistant, the high performing Deckshield systems used create bright demarcation lines and signage that will improve safety and comfort for the car park’s users,” added Marek Szymonek.
