Flowcrete Poland was recently involved in a project at Poland’s largest shopping centre, the Aleja Bielany mall in the city of Wroclaw.
Formerly the Park Handlowy Bielany, the site has undergone an extensive upgrade and modernisation project to make it a 35,000m retail experience with 200 shops and a range of services available. As part of this process the site was renamed, redeveloped and reinvigorated in a Scandinavian style that utilised greenery and natural, light wood alongside huge skylights to create a bright and pleasant interior.
To accommodate the increase in visitor capacity, the Aleja Bielany’s operators knew that its underground car park would need to be enhanced to ensure that it would maintain a visually attractive and functional appearance despite a constantly heavy stream of customers.
The commitment to interior design excellence was extended to the 27,000m2 car park, where the flooring system Deckshield was installed to create a seamless surface that would be able to maintain a clean and unspoilt finish despite the constant movement of heavy vehicles and exposure to automotive oils. The durable, polyurethane system was also applied within the site’s touchless car wash and car care areas.
A light, contemporary grey finish was chosen for the one level car park’s floor, with bright and clear white signage used to mark out the roads, bays and to designate specialist spaces (such as for families, motorbikes and disabled persons).
Deckshield has been chosen for numerous car parks across the world and Flowcrete Poland’s approved applicator that installed the coating at Aleja Bielany has worked on more than 30 shopping centres. The skills and knowledge that this extensive experience has built up means that Flowcrete Poland is well placed to advise and supply developments eager to create a functional, aesthetically appealing and long lasting car park floor.
