The World Congress of the International Union of Architects is in Southern Africa for the very first time!
And the event in Durban is taking this opportunity to encourage architects from around the world to debate their field through “an unashamedly African lens”, turning architecture’s global dialogue to focus on African knowledge, challenges and opportunities.
This is reflected in the theme of the congress ‘Architecture OTHERwhere’ which represents the alternative views of the OTHER that will be explored, challenging false conceptions whilst showcasing Africa’s own perspectives.
The team at Flowcrete South Africa is excited to be taking part in such a landmark event, as it is a fantastic environment in which to discuss today’s issues with key architects and to showcase what Flowcrete has to offer to the continent’s commercial and industrial developments.
Visitors to the Flowcrete South Africa stand (2A1) will find out about the most important requirements when specifying a floor – hygiene, durability and sustainability. Architects will be well aware of how essential it is to consider these three factors when deciding which is the best flooring system for a particular environment.
We’re looking forward to meeting new professionals throughout the congress and developing long-lasting working relationships. If you’re in Durban between the 4th and 7th August come and visit us at the International Convention Centre where our specification consultants will be happy to meet you.
There’s a lot of talk about the congress on Twitter. Check out the Union of International Architects’ profile @UIA2014Durban.
