The upmarket home appliance store I-Design called on our Middle East branch to create a tailor-made floor finish for their store in Abu Dhabi’s prestigious Al Wahda Mall.

I-Design wanted a bespoke, high-quality floor that would be eye-catching, light-reflective and, crucially, that would tie into their image as an upmarket retail shop trading in hi-tech, superior products.

Flowcrete Middle East provided the desired effect by using a combination of two of its seamless resin systems. Flowshield SL, a self-levelling epoxy resin, was used in conjunction with the decorative floor topping Peran STB to create a series of contrasting inserts positioned at regular intervals across the shop floor.

This solution created a floor that was not only aesthetically pleasing but also seamless, hard-wearing, non-dusting, chemically resistant and easy to clean.

Flowshield can withstand high levels of foot and pallet truck traffic which makes it ideal for retail projects requiring an attractive floor that will stand the test of time. It is also available in a wide range of attractive colours which is a benefit for clients like I-Design who want their floor to be different and stand out from the crowd.

Peran STB’s decorative appearance is created by encapsulating colour stable quartz granules in a clear resin binder. This system can be rapidly installed and is ideal for use in areas where the floor is subjected to heavy traffic, impacts and even chemical spills.

The iconic Al Wahda Mall is the largest hypermarket in Abu Dhabi, with over 350 brands in a 2.2 million square feet area.
