Every year Channel 4’s much-loved architectural expert Kevin McCloud hand picks a selection of the best eco-innovations available to the construction industry to be his Green Heroes at Grand Designs Live.
The wide knowledge of materials, technologies and sustainable practices that Kevin McCloud has built up whilst documenting the hundreds of ambitious projects on Grand Designs means he has a unique insight into the world of innovative and inventive construction.
This year’s Green Heroes selection includes bird houses upcycled from the air ducting of an Airbus A320 jet, used washing machine drums that have been given new life as lamps, hand made iron beds guaranteed to last a lifetime and our environmentally friendly range of floor screeds – the Isocrete Green Screeds.
As part of our commitment to providing sustainable solutions that reduce the environmental impact building materials can have, we developed a range of screeds free from Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). OPC is a common construction ingredient and accounts for a significant percentage of all the construction industry’s CO2 emissions.
At Grand Designs Live visitors will be able to examine a sample of the Isocrete Self Level Renovation screed, part of the Isocrete Green Screeds range. This solution has already become popular with large scale commercial and residential projects thanks to its ability to lower the development’s carbon footprint, provide a high-quality screed and because it can be installed alongside energy efficient underfloor heating.
Sitting at the heart of the event, the Green Heroes feature is a must see part of the show and is also surrounded by topical debates and stands where you can have a go at sustainable building techniques.
If you are going to Grand Designs Live this year tell us what you’re excited about seeing the most in the comments section below (the Isocrete Green Screeds and enigmatic Kevin McCloud are obviously a given – but feel free to comment about them anyway!).
